At the Jewish Museum of Australia, we illuminate Jewish life.

Our four permanent exhibitions—Belief & Ritual, Calling Australia Home, The Jewish Year and Timeline of Jewish History—recount the stories of Jewish people, with a focus on the Australian community. Our major exhibitions inspire curiosity and conversation, telling familiar and surprising tales in new ways.

Since closing, we’ve been sending you weekly Love Letters to inspire hope and resilience. In this, our last dispatch, we are enormously excited to present you with the ultimate gift as we emerge from this unprecedented time: a celebration of the iconic artist Mirka Mora (1928–2018) opening in February 2021.

In partnership with William Mora Galleries and supported by Heide Museum of Modern Art, our exhibition will showcase never-before-seen treasures from Mora’s archive and studio, as well as the recently acquired Mirka for Melbourne collection.

A window into her early years in Paris, survival of the Holocaust, migration to Australia and legacy as a much-loved artist and mother of cosmopolitan Melbourne, MIRKA will fill you up with love for art, family, food and our great city.

Mora’s son William once said: ‘Mirka belonged to everyone.’ We can’t wait to share her story and your stories once back at Alma Road, but to do this we need you.
